Do a thorough physical examination including that of genitalia. Development assessment of a child, preferably by a specialist is desirable. Many children coming from orphanages have delayed development due to lack of stimulation. After adoption most of them show remarkable improvement in next few days. - Hepatitis B – HBsAg , IgM and IgG HBc Ag
- Hepatitis C Antibody
- HIV 1 and 2 serology or PCR during newborn period upto 18 months of age
- TORCH Titres & VDRL
- Mantoux test
- Urine routine & culture
- CBC, Malarial parasite antigen
- Biochemical tests: LFT , KFT, free T4 & TSH
- Hemoglobinopathies and Blood disorders – HPLC
- Metabolic screening: Blood TMS
- Imaging: Chest Xray; USG abdomen & cranium; ECHO
- Evaluation of hearing & eye examination.
