Lip licker’s dermatitis

This is caused by habitual licking of the lips and the skin around the mouth. The condition is an irritant contact dermatitis caused by saliva. The erythematous rash involves the perioral area and characteristically includes the vermilion border of the lips.

Tips for treating Lip Licker’s Dermatits:

1. Minimize licking of Lips

  • Apply frequent emollients
  • In some cases – Topical 1% hydrocortisone ointment can be tried to break the cycle
