Screen viewing guidelines for young children

In today’s world children are growing up digital therefore its important to learn healthy concepts of digital use. The American Academy of Pediatrics discourages media use for toddlers younger than 18 to 24 months other than video chatting.  By age 2, children can benefit from certain types of screen time such as programming with music, movement and stories but passive screen time shouldn’t replace reading, playing or problem solving.

Children between the ages of 2 to 5 should be permitted screen time(includes all screens like mobile, tablets, Laptops, TV, Gaming consoles, etc) one hour a day.

Solo media use should be discouraged, means care-giver should also view with children so children can learn from watching and talking to them. Children learn best when they are re-taught in the real world what they just learned through a screen.
