Problems with inappropriate screen use in childhood

Problems begin when media use displaces physical activity, hands on exploration and face to face social interaction in the real world which is critical to learning. Too much or poor quality screen time has been linked to health issues like obesity, irregular sleep schedules, shorter duration of sleep, behaviour problems, loss of social skills, violence and less time for free play.

Bullying and possible abuse on various Social media platforms is yet another challenge which a child gets exposed to when screen usage is beyond limits of time and parental control.

Managing children’s use of screen and media can be a challenge in todays’ world, especially with so much of peer pressure on the child, but by developing rules you can ensure a safe and fun experience.
